How to Mine Conflux (CFX): A Comprehensive Guide for Beginners
Conflux (CFX) has entered a new phase with the launch of the Tethys network, opening up mining opportunities for enthusiasts. If you're looking to contribute to the Conflux network and earn rewards for helping secure it, this guide will walk you through the process of mining CFX. Let's dive in and start mining together!
What is Conflux Mining?
Overview
Conflux is a next-generation blockchain system that utilizes a novel consensus protocol to support highly scalable cryptocurrency and smart contract systems. It significantly improves performance by processing parallel blocks using a special DAG structure called TreeGraph, allowing miners to merge and process transactions across all concurrent blocks without competing for the longest chain.
The Conflux network operates on an account-based model similar to Ethereum and supports a modified version of Solidity and EVM for its smart contracts, making it easy to migrate Ethereum smart contracts to Conflux.

Hardware Requirements for Mining Conflux
Conflux uses a mining algorithm called Octopus, which is an ASIC-resistant memory-hard algorithm. This means you can participate in Conflux mining using GPUs.
Currently, Conflux mining software primarily supports NVIDIA GPUs. It's important to note that GPUs with more than 4GB of memory will be required one week after the launch of the third phase of the mainnet. This requirement will increase linearly at a rate of 1 to 1.5GB per year.
Setting Up Software and Creating Accounts
Step 1: Create a Wallet Address
Creating a wallet address is the first step to entering any new blockchain network. You'll need a wallet address to check and receive payouts for mining Conflux using f2pool.
You can choose to run a full node wallet or use other wallet solutions. We recommend the official web browser wallet or Cobo wallet. You can also opt for an exchange wallet address, such as MoonDEX or MXC. Note: Always do your own due diligence when choosing a wallet provider or exchange.
Step 2: Create an f2pool Account
Before mining Conflux, you need to create an f2pool account. If you don't have one yet, click here to register.
Set up a username. This will be necessary for configuration. You're free to create multiple sub-accounts to monitor your workers/miners.
Now add your Conflux wallet address that you created in Step 1 and input that address in the withdrawal settings. Once you start contributing shares, you can set the payment threshold and check hashrate changes and rewards.
You can add or change payout addresses in the payout settings. f2pool distributes mining income daily to each user who reaches the payment threshold, which is 10 CFX.
Step 3: Prepare Your Software Environment
With the necessary hardware, f2pool username, and Conflux address ready, you can set up your software environment.
Operating System
Current Conflux mining software requires Windows or Linux systems.
Mining Software
Bminer and NBMiner are some of the main community-developed software applications for Linux and Windows machines.
Step 4: Configuration
Edit the start
file
After downloading your chosen mining software, unzip it, locate the start.bat
or start.cmd
file, right-click on it, and click Edit
.
Copy the text
Replace the existing command in the file with the command corresponding to your chosen mining software from the table below.
Software | Command |
---|---|
Bminer | bminer -uri conflux://[email protected]:6800 |
NBMiner | nbminer -a octopus -o stratum+tcp://cfx.f2pool.com:6800 -u username.worker_name |
Enter your username
Next, change username
to your f2pool username generated in Step 2. Set worker_name
to your device name, for example, CFX001
.
If you use multiple rigs, setting informative worker names can help you identify the correct device when hashrates drop or computers go offline.
Run the file
Save the changes, close the editor, and double-click the start
file. You will now connect to the mining pool and start mining!
Viewing Your Rewards
Now that you've started mining, you can calculate the income generated by your devices. We'll also outline how fees and payouts work with f2pool.
View On-Chain Block Rewards
Visit the Conflux block explorer Confluxscan to better understand the decentralized world you're powering with your hashrate. Input your wallet and transaction details to find on-chain information, such as withdrawals from f2pool.
Calculate How Much You Can Earn
Measure Your Earnings
The number of coins you can earn primarily depends on your hashrate. You can calculate how many coins you can mine using Mhash per second and multiply that number by the current exchange rate for your target currency (e.g., USD or EUR) to measure estimated daily earnings. If you prefer units other than Mhash/s, you can use this hashrate conversion tool.
F2Pool Calculator Tool
You can easily estimate your potential earnings from popular mining rigs using our calculator tool.
Verify Your Payouts from f2pool
Once your devices start mining data and submitting it to the pool, you can access real-time reward records from f2pool.
View Your Records
You'll receive payments from f2pool as long as you successfully submit hashrate.
To view your real-time Conflux mining payout records, visit the f2pool website, log in, and check the records.
The F2Pool app is also convenient for viewing rewards.
f2pool uses PPS (Pay-per-Share) to calculate rewards and charges 3% of the reward as a commission. You'll receive payment within 24 hours when the coins in your account reach the minimum threshold of 10 CFX.
